UNCLE LEO’S BAKERY
WEB / E-COMMERCEThe bakery,
now taking orders online.
Bringing a neighbourhood bakery’s character into an online shop.
A LITTLE TASTE OF SOMETHING GOOD.Explore the project 01 / THE BRIEF
From phone calls to an online shop.
The situation
The bakery had loyal customers and busy seasonal peaks, but orders arrived through messages, phone calls and handwritten lists. Its website did not reflect the warmth of the shop or support online purchases.
The aim
Translate that handmade character into a clear shopping experience, with a system the team could manage themselves.
02 / WHAT I LEARNED
What I learned from the people using it.
I worked with the owner to map what happened during seasonal peaks, reviewed the existing audience’s behaviour and compared local online ordering experiences. The operational needs mattered as much as the look of the website.
Seasonal demand needed structure
Availability, pre-orders and a single order queue were central to making busy periods manageable.
Two audiences needed simplicity
Customers needed a clear way to buy. The bakery team needed a clear way to maintain the shop.
The warmth was already there
The visual direction needed to carry the personality of the physical bakery into the digital experience.

THE EXPERIENCE / UNCLE LEO’S
The ordering experience.
A warm welcome, a clear path to seasonal products, and a shop the team can keep up to date.
Feel the character.
Colours, typography and imagery bring the bakery’s personality into the first visit.
Find the right treat.
A seasonal catalogue makes products and availability easier to understand.
Know what comes next.
Pre-orders and confirmations connect the customer’s choice with the bakery’s order queue.
04 / DESIGN DECISIONS
The decisions behind the design.
A seasonal shop
Modular WooCommerce campaigns connected time-limited products, stock limits and flexible pricing.
A clearer pre-order journey
Availability messages and email confirmations helped organise seasonal orders in one place.
A website the team could own
A tailored WordPress admin, documentation and training supported everyday updates without code.
A recognisable visual language
Earthy colours, expressive typography and gentle interactions carried the bakery’s character through the site.

A PERSONAL TAKEAWAY
The most rewarding part was the handoff: seeing a non-technical team confidently manage its website and seasonal campaigns. A useful design should keep working for the people who own it.
